How to Use Mapillai Samba Porridge MixTraditional Method (Salted Porridge / Kanji):
Ingredients:
Mapillai Samba Porridge Mix – 2 to 3 tbsp
Water – 2 cups
Salt – to taste
Buttermilk – ½ cup (optional, after cooling)
Optional: Chopped shallots, curry leaves, or coriander for flavor
Steps:
Add the mix to water and stir well to avoid lumps.
Cook on medium flame for 10–15 minutes until it becomes soft and porridge-like.
Add salt to taste.
Let it cool slightly, then add buttermilk if desired.
Serve warm with pickle, raw onions, or a simple side dish.
Sweet Version:
Ingredients:
Mapillai Samba Porridge Mix – 2 to 3 tbsp
Water – 2 cups
Palm jaggery or jaggery powder – as needed
Coconut milk – optional, for richness
Cardamom powder – a pinch
Steps:
Boil the mix in water for 10–15 minutes.
Once cooked, add jaggery and stir until dissolved.
Add coconut milk and cardamom powder (optional).
Serve warm or chilled.
